“Just got back from the post office with your new CD. To be honest I’ve just only listened to “The Christmas Song” and “Quincy” I must tell you that I’m totally knocked out with what you did with my pieces!!! The sound on the “The Christmas Song” is beautiful. Your phrasing of the melody spectacular! It gave me goose bumps! “Quincy” is a true adventure. You [and Jamey] made the piece really work! I’m flattered and touched.”

“Nancy Zeltsman has made an extraordinary career as a concert marimba
player, usually performing as part of a duo. For this solo recording, she reaches
beyond her usual repertoire of contemporary music to include adaptations of
more traditional pieces.
Zeltsman's deep relationship with her instrument have uniquely qualified
her to adapt pieces such as Ludwig Van Beethoven's “Bagatelle No. 4” and Duke
Ellington's “Morning Glory.” The marimba's glowing tones elegantly recreate
the emotion of the piece with a liquid baritone, an underwater piano. Pieces
like Leonard Bernstein's “For Susanna Kyle” make use of the instrument's
shimmering vibrations. Zeltsman's soft touch can raise a note with virtually no
attack, giving the percussive instrument an organlike quality. Contemporary
compositions like Gunther Schuller's “Marimbology” highlight the instrument's full
range and the performer's virtuosity. Others, like Emmanuel Séjourné's "Nancy,"
take a more minimalist approach.
Zeltsman's talent breathes passion into them all. Her solo performance
lets listeners focus on the difference a marimba makes, on pieces both new and
familiar.”

"It is really incredible, Nancy. See Ya Thursday, the
playing and the recording, is a truly great moment for the marimba. Wow!!
You have set such an incredibly high standard artistically.
Congratulations, over and over again."
Gordon Stout, marimbist
Ithaca, NY
“Nancy Zeltsman’s CD See Ya Thursday is a fine example of how to play the marimba interestingly, musically, intelligently, with variety and utmost taste. There is no evidence of music choice just to exhibit technique. The focus seems to be on creating something beautiful, wonderful, memorable, moving, etc. She holds your interest throughout the entire recording.”
Murray Houllif, composer & percussionist Long Island, NY
"She plays with a remarkable sensibility to timbre, often achieving the
effect of true legato. Her subtle use of phrasing techniques often match
that of the best singers of art songs. Even when the textures require
extreme velocity, Zeltsman sounds the perfect artist. Little wonder that
so many composers write for her."
Heuwell Tircuit, Fanfare Magazine
"I own several marimba CDs by famous artists, and yours is my favorite to
listen to. Your music is uplifting, exciting, and exudes a wide range of
emotions. I love the tone you get out of the bars to me, it is the
ideal marimba sound."
